Black market money changers at the morning market. Vientiane, Laos.

The inflation in Laos has made the local currency Kip virtually useless and is only used for small item purchases. In 2002 100 US Dollar was worth 1, 3 million Kip filling up a shopping bag with stacks of notes. Larger purchases are therefore always made in USD or Thai Baht, keeping the black market alive and thriving.
