The Sutermeister Estate, of Beadville, had sold its entire batch of thousands of pans of tulips, narcissi and hyacinths ten days before Easter. The West Street Greenhouses, of Reading, are cutting a grand crop of double blue cornflowers, which net as much money as the best carnations. Carnations are looking fine, especially Benora, Beacon and White Wonder. They also have a good cut of calendulas and stocks. At Carbone's, plant trade is remark- ably good. Particularly good here are lilacs in both bush and standard form, acacias, deciduous flowering shrubs, rambler roses and rhododendrons. I noted some fine hardy larkspurs^ and Spanish irises here. .Tohn McFarland, of North Easton, had 7,000 of the finest giganteum lilies grown locally this season, and practi- cally every pot sold in advance. At the Gardeners' and Florists' Club meeting April 20, in addition to the lecture by H. Howard Pepper, of Provi- dence, there will be fine exhibits of or- chids, bulbous flowers and roses. March has now nearly reached its end and has proved a consistently clear and dry month. No snow or rain has fallen for over a month and the ground is quite dry.
