The tomb chest of John Fagge and his son, also named John, dominate the Lady Chapel in St Eanswith Church, Brenzett, Romney Marsh. He died on 22nd June 1639. His son did not live a lots longer. He died on 25th July 1646. His surviving son had the monument built. The church dates from the 12th century and is named after a Saxon princess who as born around the year 630. It is believed she was the Abbess of a nunnery in what we now call Folkestone. The efigy of John Fagge is thought by some to be the inspiration for children's author E Nesbit's book "Man-size in Marble"
