MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - JULY 7: Streets are filled with emergency service vehicles at the main entrance of the Sutton Street housing complex amid the third full day of the total lockdown of 9 housing commission high rise towers in North Melbourne and Flemington during COVID 19 on 7 July, 2020 in Melbourne, Australia. After recording a horror 191 COVID-19 cases overnight forcing Premier Daniel Andrews to announce today that all of metropolitan Melbourne along with one regional centre, Mitchell Shire will once more go back to stage three lockdowns from midnight Wednesday June 8. The Premier added that school holidays will be extended for another week and there would be likely home learning reinstated in the affected areas despite there being no medical evidence to support this move. This comes as the residents of the housing commission towers in North Melbourne and Flemington finish their third day under extreme lockdown, despite only 27 cases being found in the towers. Members of the public gathered outside of the towers this afternoon in support of those trapped inside while riot police violently arrested two women for standing too close to the fence. While the women were later released, tensions are boiling over both in the towers and out. With 772 active cases in Victoria, NSW closed their border to Victoria effective at midnight tonight whilst the rest of the country has successfully beaten community infections and look to the Victorian government as a total and abject failure which has let the rest of the country down.
