St. Anthony Pabk, Minn—The state entomologist of Minnesota has discovered in a shipment of Carolina poplars from New York state the beetle known as the alder and willow borer, introduced from England some years ago. He says every means should be taken by nurserymen and others interested to stamp out this pest before it gains a foothold. Springffleld, Mo. The Greene County Horticultural Society held its annual rally at this place October 1. Dr. Henry S. Hartzog, president of the state university of Arkansas, spoke on "Horticulture as an Intellectual ; President H. T. Fuller, of Drury college, talked on fruit growing in New York.
