The Zoroastrian Fire Temple reflected in its garden pond, Yazd, Iran


Zoroastrianism is the religion of followers of the Prophet Zoroaster (or Zarathustra), who is thought of having lived in Persia around 1200BCE. Based on the worshipping a God called "Mazda", Zoroastianism's mantra is: “Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds.” A Zoroastrian temple adorned with a winged figure in the Iranian city of Yazd. Yazd has the best and biggest inhabited old city in the country. The town is home to Iran´s largest community of Zoroastrians. The Towers of Silence on the southern outskirts of Yazd is the one of the best known Zoroastrian landmarks. Dead bodies were not buried but left in these uncovered stone towers so that vultures could pick the bones clean.
