"Cape Town View", villa on the shores of Lake Victoria in Munyonyo, Uganda that was expropriated by Idi Amin in the 1970's

This villa overlooking Murchison Bay in Lake Victoria, Munyonyo, Uganda was expropriated from its British owner and his wife by President Idi Amin in the mid 1970's. Amin staged a bombing demonstration by his air force bombing a small Island in Lake Victoria to demonstrate what he would do to Cape Town in South Africa once his air force went there to fight the apartheid regime. Invited dignitaries to this event were watching from the villa and therefore the villa was dubbed "Cape Town View". Up to this day this upmarket suburb of Kampala is known simply as "Cape".
