COPD research. Heart rate and blood oxygen levels being measured for a study being carried out into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Participants had changes in various respiratory values and blood oxygen levels monitored, both while resting and while exercising. The measuring device used here is a Pulsox finger pulse oximeter. The heart rate is 76 beats per minutes, with a blood oxygen saturation level (SpO2) of 98 percent. This value should not fall below 90 percent, and is usually 98 percent or better at rest.
