Imagine this most beautiful plant, bearing above its broad leaves spike upon spike of the most lovely scarlet and gold Gladiolus-shaped flowers, easier to raise than a Dahlia, and as hardy as a Chrysanthe- mum ; as beautiful as any Orchid, and far more stately, and perfectly adapted for orna- menting every lawn or flower garden from early spring till latest autumn. We have not to be satisfied with flowers of scarlet and gold alone, for there are now varieties revelling in hues of palest lemon-yellow, deepest orange, pretty fawn and nankeen buff, darkest shades of crimson, and blood red and pure white; ethers masquerading with parti- colored, splashed and spotted petals and speckled throats. They are simply grand. For outdoor cultivation plants should be purchased in the spring, and planted in beds or borders; the ground should previously be prepared and well enriched, adding a little sand if the ground is stifi and heavy. The plants will flower through the summer and autumn months. Cannas will repay good treatment and plenty of moisture, but must be lifted as soon as touched with frost and stored in a cool dry place, or under the green- house bench during winter. For winter decoration plant in a good sized pot in the falU using light, rich soil, and water well. The varieties we offer are perpetual bloomers,, specially selected for their fine foliage and bloom, and of dwarf habit, averagings feet in height; many only grow from 2 to feet high.
