Radiotherapy. Radiologist using a control panel to prepare a female patient for radiotherapy. Laser cross-hairs are being aimed onto the site of the patient's brain tumour. Once targeted, the linear accelerator radiotherapy machine (upper right) will focus radiation at the tumour. The radiation will stop the tumour's growth and hopefully destroy it. Brain tumours are abnormal growths in or on the brain that may or may not be cancerous. However, the pressure build- up they cause can be extremely serious and so they must be destroyed using radiotherapy.
