Cloning livestock at Viagen

Technicians denucleate oocytes (remove the DNA from horse egg cells harvested from a slaughterhouse), reconstruct the resulting cytoblasts by inserting horse tissue cells into the egg cells; and fuse the new embryos by applying an electric pulse to momentarliy disintegrate the cell membranes. Earl Hwang (right of frame) denucleates by operating tiny hollow needles while looking through the micoscope.
