Since my last notes were penned, two very im-portant shows have taken place—the fat stockshow under the auspices of the Norfolk and Nor-wich Christinas Association, and the very old-established breeding and fat stock show underthe patronage and main support of that greatfriend to agriculturists Lord Tredegar, at New-port, Monmouthshire. At the former show the fatcattle were fully up to average ; indeed, betterthan at many preceding shows. Some remark-ably good cross-bred, Irish, and Angus cattle wereincluded in the various classes. The classes con-fined to animals bred and fed in Norfolk, too, werefilled by a number of really choice animals. This latter is a very important statement to beable to make, as it evidently is the outcome ofgreater attention being paid to home breedingrather than to be always dependent upon pur-chased stock. The results at this show would ap-pear to bo in favour of the home-bred animals, andthis may have a wholesome effect upon the futu
