A sign for Whitegate Station on the Whitegate Way, Clay Lane, Marton, Winsford, Cheshire, England, UK
Whitegate Way, where heavy goods trains laden with salt once lumbered to Cuddington to join the Chester - Manchester line. Today the old railway line has been transformed and provides a haven for wildlife and a pleasant place for a stroll or ride. Stretching for six miles (10km) from the heart of Winsford to Cuddington, the route offers easy walking for all ages along a varied route. Shady wooded cuttings contrast with open embankments offering spectacular views across the Cheshire countryside. Convenient access points for walkers, cyclists and riders allow you to walk or ride a length at a time.
