The Rifugio Alberto-Gartl refuge and fabulous towering spires of the Vajolet Towers in the Rosengarten area of the Italian Dolomites, the Alto Adige

The famous Vajolet Tower pinnacles [pronounced violet] in the Rosengarten area of the Dolomites. The area is served by the privately owned Gartl Hut refuge, Gartl being a small garden. The refuge is also known as Rifugio Alberto so named after the King of the Belgians who was a keen rock climber and made several tours to the area. Perhaps more famous is that the towers were used in the opening scenes of Sylvester Stallone's move Cliffhanger when one of his group fell to her death from between the west and east tower, and yes a helicopter was landed on the east tower.
