The peculiar shape of the supporting rod also gives the coilsof wire very complete contact with the surrounding air. Freecirculation of air in electric heating is very essential, and the Goldheater is well nigh perfection in that respect. It is a fact admittedby all heating engineers that circulation of air is always better thanradiation, and that is one thing upon which the principles of theGold healer are based. Six Gold heaters equip an ordinary 24-ft. car, and the wholesystem is equipped with three different series of wires. In this. PLAN OF POWER HOUSE the speed of the Mechanicville generators, which will be kept asnearly constant as possible. Electric Heaters way it is possible to give three degrees of heat from a car equip-ment as a whole. It is these features which have made and are making for Goldelectric heaters progress where such equipments are desired. Despite the early predictions of some that electric heaters wouldnever prove an economic success, the electric heater to-day is anestablished and accepted fact. The history of its developmentshows that necessity is the mother of invention, and that while itwas impossible to get more heat out of a given amount of current,it had been possible to so design the heater that the heat producedis more fully utilized for car purposes. Among the companieswhich have placed heaters on the market, the Gold Car HeatingCompany, of New York and Chicago, has attracted much attentionfrom the fact that for a long time it has occupied a very high
