churches, religion, churches, lincolnshire, walesby parish, all saints church,

DSC03159. The Ramblers Church stands proud on top of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Viking Way passes through the Church grounds. The earliest recorded date is 1172 and the church ceased to be the Parish Church in 1881. In the period 1931-1939 the church was used as a centre for pilgrimages by some Church societies and by hikers in Lincolnshire. In 1932 it became known as The Ramblers Church and the annual Trinity Sunday service began, this tradition still continues and is well attended by ramblers, hikers and cyclists. In 1950 the Grimsby Wayfares association gave a fine stained glass window depicting walkers and cyclists, in memory of lovers of the countryside.
