An Ottoman gold-inlaid yataghan, dated 1827 Typically curved blade with chiselled back and double fullers, with (old) blued root on both sides. The obverse side with a circular, gold-inlaid inscription, on the reverse a two-line cartouche with manufacturer's inscription and date "1243" (=1827). The gilt blade mounting set with filigree and glass beads, the grip frame set with cut corals. Riveted, intact walrus ivory grip panels.
