Vegetable paddies clinging to the sides of a ravine on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in northern Yunnan Province. A part of the Three Parallel Rivers World Heritage Park (where the Yangtze, Mekong and Salween Rivers run parallel), the area is renown for its high biodiversity; containing of China's landmass but containing more than 20% of plant and 25% of the country's species. It also hosts 16 minority groups on its river banks and mountain slopes; one of the highest concentrations in the world.
