THE ORIGINAL GREAT GATE OF THE COLLEGE THE CHAMBERS 83 The buildings not appropriated to the purposes of chapel,library, hall, and offices contained the rooms in which the Fellowsand servants of the College lived. These received the same sortof reconstruction and rearrangement as the rest. By seventyyears after the foundation of the College a good deal had beendone, and we find in a Chamber Roll of 1418 an upper chamberto the south of the gi-eat gate used by a Fellow ^ and a low roomunder it used by the Poor Boys; - a chamber above the gate with another on each floor next to it.* Next is the chambernext to St, Peters Church,^ with another below it, and adjoiningthese a similar pair, the lower of which is also occupied bya Fellow.
