At Mat-tacheri, a town of Cochin, a colony ofIsraelites has been established withinthe later historical period; and thesehave not yet taken the complexion ofthe natives. On the contrary, the peo-ple of this colony have preserved thefair complexions of the West, and areknown as Jerusalem, or White, JEW OF ;— by Emile Bayard, from a photograph.
