PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 11, 2017) – Damage Controlman 3rd Class Tao Tian, a member of the “flying squad” on board amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), prepares to apply metal banding to a ruptured pipe during a flooding drill. America’s flying squad members are the first responders to casualties while underway. America is currently underway conducting routine operations in preparation for deployment later this year.
