Three wet nurses and two infants, Esaias Boursse, 1662 There are three women outside, most likely feeders of different origins. The left woman, with African appearance and short-shaved frizzy hair, wears a long wrap skirt (Redda) and a Portuguese blouse with v-neck and long sleeves (hate). Her breasts are visible under the edge of the blouse. In her waist, an elongated object stands out above the skirt: perhaps a meshift. The woman in the middle only wears a wrap skirt (Redda) and a headscarf hanging on her back. The child she wears on her left hip has thick wavy hair and is possibly Eurasian

The origin of the woman is not clear, but possibly Tamil or Singalese of Lage Kaste, just like the woman on the right. She also only wears a wrap skirt (Redda), no outerwear. She has thick wavy hair, probably stabbed back in a Wrong (Condé). Her hands, with which she holds the infant on her left hip, hide under the textile that also partly covers the child. It can be her blouse pulled out (hate). The child wears a bead cord around the ankle. Page 106 from a sketchbook with 117 sheets. Sri Lanka paper. ink brush Asiatic races and peoples (with NAME).
