Exhibition room, Somerset House. Circa 1808. The Great Room of the Royal Academy. (This room is now part of the Courtauld Gallery). After a work by August Pugin and Thomas Rowlandson in the Microcosm of London, published in three volumes between 1808 and 1810 by Rudolph Ackermann. Pugin was the artist responsible for the architectural elements in the Microcosm pictures; Thomas Rowlandson was hired to add the lively human figures.
