The Little Mermaid turns 100 today and Copenhagen throws her a party to celebrate her centenary with thousands of visitors in a day-long programme honouring the Hans Christian Andersen figure and icon. In those days brewer Carl Jacobsen (Carlsberg) came on the idea to present Copenhagen with the mermaid sculpture at Langelinie.
