He waselected to the Board of Aldermen in1904. He served as chairman of theDemocratic City Committee in 1905and 1906, and in 1909 he was theDemocratic candidate for Mayor. OnJanuary i, 1914, he became Post-master, having been apponted byPresident Wilson. Lender his admin-istration the Lawrence post office hasmaintained a high standard of effi-ciency.
