Part of the Trans-Alaskan Oil Pipeline stretching across the open arctic tundra. The pipeline carries oil from the North Slope oil fields near Prudhoe Bay on the north coast to Valdez on the southern coast, a distance of 1, 284km. The pipeline is in diameter and can transport 2 million barrels (318 million litres) of crude oil per day.
