The floor is covered toa depth of several feet with a layer of ashes and charcoal, in Avhich were found fragmentsof animal-bones half-burnt, several ox-skulls with horns attached, and many terra-cottalamps. Below the Cave, on the western edge of the A^z^a-plain, are the foundations of aRoman house once occupied by the custodians of the sanctu
