THE CONVENTION CITY. Atlantic City is unique among the pleasure resorts of thiscountry in that it receives and entertains guests during theentire year. Annually between 6, and ,000people visit Atlantic City expecting to be amused or to findbenefit in the climate. The city has no factories or no ship-ping and none of the large industrial enterprises to which othercommunities lay claim. It tries to forget the existence of thoseinstitutions in which men toil and labor. In doing so it themore successfully succeeds in affording relief to those whowish to escape business cares and worry. But Adantic City does boast of its hotels, and it may right-fully do so, both as to number and quality. Of the hotelsthere are twenty-two that have a capacity of more than 500people each, and these, together with the 900 other licensedhotels and boarding houses, have a total capacity for about300,000 guests.
