According to Hampson's table (Proc. Zool. Soc. Lend. 1898, p. 591) the geni:s would fall into the subfamily Endotrichiiiiae, of which so far no American species are recorded. It might possibly be re- garded as an aberrant genus of Epipaschiinae without tufts on pri- maries or basal tuft to antennae; in general appearance the type species resembles a small Noctitelia. We take pleasure in naming the genus after our friend Mr. W. T. Davis of Staten Is., who formed one of the party in Florida. Davisia singularis sp. nov. (PI. Ill, Fig. 3). Thorax ochreous, shaded with brown; primaries various shades of brown; black dot at base of costa; basal portion of wing light brown, defined outwardly by a smoky t. a. line 1/4 from base bordered inwardly with pale ochreous and slightly angled outwardly in cell; beyond this line is a brown band of similar color and width to basal space, the outer margin of which is evenly ouHvardly oblique: tlie remainder and larger portion of the median space has a pale ochreous ground color, shaded heavily with smoky outwardly, most prominent and broadest above inner margin; a small black discal dot, t. p. line closer to outer margin than usual, blackish, followed by pale shade evenly rounde
