As afurther assistance, we have noted, in brackets, the numbers and names of thelist prepared by Dr. B. Maris, whose happy nomenclature, in the description ofthe 1794 Cents, has generally been adopted by collectors. He has also kindlypermitted us to make extracts from his work, which we have freely done when-ever we found our list deficient. Our descriptions are made chiefly from theobverse; the reverse is used only as an accessory, or when possessing somestriking characteristic that will assist in determining the variety. No. 1. Head of 1793. The date straight with 1 close to hair and a slightlycrooked 4 almost touching bust. (Maris No. 1, 1793 Head.) Reverse: Dot close to n, between e and n of cent. Condition, good.
