In this variety we have a combina- tion of the best qualities of Celery. The red sorts far surpass the white in flavor, and pos- sess in their coloring a feature which renders them valuable as a table ornament. The Sweet or Sugar varieties being liable to rot in cold or wet ground, should not be planted before May, or until the ground has become warm ; for a succession continue planting every two weeks, until the middle of July, lu rich, well-manured ground, in hills 3 feet apart each way, covering about half an inch, and thin out to 3 plants to a hiU. The extra early varieties can be planted 18 inches in the row and 2i feet between the rows.
