Lioness with her cub AFRICA HEART-MELTING images show a lion family nicknamed ?The Hollywoods? because they are so exceptionally good-looking and have appeared on the Smithsonian Channel. Only three-and-half months old, this cub and his mother are part of a pride of lions that can be seen frolicking and grooming each other in South Luangwa National Park, Africa. This pride was the star of a documentary called 'Big Cat Country' seen on the Smithsonian Channel. The Hollywood pride is a coalition of two big male lions and is currently made up of six lionesses, one sub-adult male (two to three years of age), and six cubs. Nathalie Mountain (53), a British wildlife photographer, captured these moments while on safari using a Nikon D850 Camera and Nikon AF-S 180-400mm lens from less than 100 feet. ?It is always such a privilege to watch wild animals behaving naturally in their environment, particularly when they are cute lion cubs,? she said. ?Capturing these fleeting moments that you might miss in the blink of an eye is always so special, and you can see the bond and emotion between a mother and her cub. ?We had watched this pride of lions hunt for over an hour without success, and we knew they had cubs that they would be keen to get back to. ?So, As soon as we knew the hunt was over, we headed off to find the cubs in their favourite spot. ?Within half an hour, the lionesses returned to their cubs, who were extremely pleased that their mother returned and greeted them with the usual lion head rubs and reassuring ENDS
