Soldier standing in the foreground is Pvt. Crunelle of the Signal Corps (). The photograph was taken at the headquarters of the 27th Division from September 7, 1918, to September 24, 1918. Capt. P Jackel, aide to Maj. Gen. O'Ryan, can also be seen. The location of the headquarters was previously occupied by Sir Douglas Haig during the Battle of the Somme in 1916.
