Second Stage : Removal of the Adenoid Mass.—The proper placing of theforceps is verified by the left index-finger. It is necessary in closure of theblades to expose the pearly fibres of the pharyngeal aponeurosis. We thenwithdraw the instrument with a slight movement of rotation, while guiding itwith the index-finger; and taking care, as is easily done, not to tear off aflap of the mucous membrane.
