Seated Gautama Buddha, Stok Gompa, Ladakh, India


Stok Gompa (also called Kurphuk monastery) with the snow-covered Ladakh Range in the background, Stok, Ladakh. This is a Buddhist monastery founded in the 14th century and it is notable for containing all 108 volumes of the Kangyur consisting of works supposed to have been spoken by the Buddha himself. Many people also visit here to see the 71 foot high seated golden Gautama Buddha statue located above the gompa, built 2012-2015, consecrated by 14th Dalai Lama,.
