'Arrival at Durban', November 1899, (1945). Winston Churchill (1874-1965) arrives in Durban, South Africa, after escaping from a Boer prison camp in Pretoria. Churchill was a journalist travelling with a body of British troops during the Second Boer War (1899-1902) when he was captured. British politician and statesman Sir Winston Churchill was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, and again from 1951 to 1955.
