St George's Hanover Square. Portico and tower; built by John James between 1721 and 1725.
St George Hanover Square. One of the 'Fifty New Churches' or 'Queen Anne Churches'. Built by John James between 1721 and 1725. The portico has six giant Corinthian columns supporting a large pediment, and the tower is set just behind the portico. The site is a block south of Hanover Square, so the monumental portico on the west front faces the narrow St George Street rather than an open space.
