All were normal and showed a reasonably gooddistribution of steam. When Card No. 2 was taken it indicatedto the operator a dry valve; one minute and thirty secondswere allowed to pass and Card No. 3 was taken. This cardgave evidence of an increase in the distortion at the back endwith a slight reduction of the trouble at the front end. Forty seconds were allowed to elapse when the next wastaken. Card No. 4 shows that in the front end of the cylinderthe distribution of steam is almost normal again, while in theback end the trouble is aggravated considerably beyond that inCard No. 3.
