Black Eagle Elkhorn Knight's Early Black Coe'8 Transparent Healy Luelling Downer's Late Red Ida Rockport Bigarreau Elton DUKE AND MORELLO CHERRIES—(Sotif). These two classes of Cherries are very distinct from the preceding. The trees are of smaller size, and grow more slowly ; the leaves are thicker and more erect, and of a deeper green. The fruit is generally round, varying from light red to dajk brown in LARGE MONTMORENCY. The dukes have stout erect branches usually and some of them, like Reine] Hor- tense, quite sweet fruit ; while the Morellos invariably have slender, spreading branches and acid fruit. These two classes are peculiarly appropriate for dwarfs and pyramids, on the Mahaleb stock,and their hardiness renders them well worthy of attention in localities where the Heart and Bigarreau are too tender.
