Bowlingual dog translator. Dog wearing the wireless microphone component of the dog-to-human translator Bowlingual. This device was developed by the Japanese toy company Tokara and launched in 2002. The device analyses the dog's bark (transmitted from the wireless microphone) and places it in one of six emotional categories: happy, sad, frustrated, guarded, assertive, and needy. The pet owner's handheld device then displays phrases representing that emotion.
