Protesters called for freedom, development, and further integration into the European Union, rather than isolation. Poland's relationship with the European Union of late, has been contentious. In recent weeks, Poland's Prime Minister questioned whether or not she would agree with the Treaty of Rome, and was prepared to walk away from it, if the declarations are not in Poland's interest, however on Saturday she signed the declaration Earlier this month, Poland was the only country to openly vote against a fellow Pole, Donald Tusk, who was seeking re-election for the position of the President of the European Council during an EU summit.
