MURDOCK Supervisor CHARLES A. ^rURDOCK, amember of the Board of Super-visors continuously since member of the Board of Edu-cation, Civil Service Commissionand State Legislature, was born inMassachusetts, where he enjoyed itsexcellent educational opportunitiesfor fourteen years. In 1855 he joined his father inCalifornia, residing for nine years inHumboldt County. In 1863 he wasappointed, by President Lincoln,Registrar of the land office in theHumboldt District. He removed toSan Francisco in 1864 to act as sec-retary to the Superintendent of In-dian xAfifairs and has since tiiat timemade this city his home. After three years experience assecretary, bookkeeper, reporter and money broker. Supervisor Alur-dock in 1867 engaged in the printing business and has for nearly halfa century been prominently identified with this industry. He is nowPresident of the Blair-^Iurdock Company, one of the leading publish-ing and printing
