(Hardwick) Faxon, was born in Quincy, Mass.,Sept. 28, 1823. He is a descendant in the eighthgeneration of Thomas Faxon, who came, with hiswife, daughter, and two sons, from England toAmerica previous to 1647, and settled in that partof Braintree now Quincy. He consequently repre-sents one of the oldest New England families in thissection. Job Faxon was quite an extensive farmer, owningand managing, in connection with his farm, a stall inQuincy Market, Boston, for many years, and leavingat his death an estate of forty thousand
