A South German silver-mounted hunting hanger from the possessions of a Count von Erbach, circa 1730. Strong single-edged blade with double-edged point and flat fullers on both sides. The base with remnants of the etched epigram "Ein Jäger hat allzeit " on the obverse side and an etched hunting scene on the reverse side. Richly textured crossguard with lavishly engraved and chiselled acanthus and seashell decoration.
