Of coursewe have been running now continually for twomonths, during which time the car has neverhad a chance of going into dock, and, doubt-less, there are by this time lots of loose boltsand screws that want tightening up. Like most of the railway men up country, hewas a Scotchman, and doubtless the humancontents of that dining-room, made it seemfor the time being like a little bit of Scotland,the illusion being probably completed, whenGuntrip was instructed to see that he got adose of the famous Highland medicine, whichwe always carried with us in case of things our Scotch friend had said mighthappen, didnt, but shortly after breakfast wefelt the brakes go on with rather a jerk, andwe came to a sudden halt, followed by a racingup and down of the train officials, to see whathad gone wrong.
