The organizers denounce the "precarious working conditions" both in the scientific sector and in the university. In this sense, they criticize that the non-renewal of the workforce and the lack of places that allow staff stabilization has only worsened in recent years and, in this regard, Covid-19 has represented a "severe blow to a sector already seriously punished ". Likewise, they regret that, taking advantage of the serious health emergency, the institutions (from the Ministries of Science and Innovation and Universities, to the government teams of the centers) have paralyzed many of the collective negotiations that were underway and have "ignored" to workers' representatives at the time of de-escalation plans. "At this point, with a scientific and university sector propped up in precariousness and with despotic organisms that mistreat and exploit their workers, we consider that the only alternative is the organization of the workers to put, once and for all, the research and the university at the service of the working class ", they state. Among the demands that the unions consider urgent are: to reverse the "commodification measures" of the university and research system; move towards a totally free public university system; and eliminate fraudulent hiring, ensure the stabilization of the workforce and the creation of a single body of researchers, teachers and PAS. They also require: developing a model of personal and domestic conciliation; end the outsourcing of basic services; change the evaluation criteria to encourage cooperation; and reorient the policies in Universities and Research Centers in the face of Covid-19 to put the health of people who work and study first.
