This dressing is kept in place for from four tosix weeks, and if union has occurred the patient is keptin bed for a few weeks longer and is then allowed to beabout, using crutches. In the majority of cases of fract-ure of the neck of the femur fibrous union only takesplace, and after employing the dressing before described Fig. 290.
