Sp It has been only a few years since the first of the Spencer Sweet Peas was intro- duced to American gardeners, but they have in that short time so completely overshadowed the old-fasliioned or Grandiflora vai ietics that the latter arc almost forgotten. The flowers of the Spencer or Orchid-Flowered type are of extraordinar\ size, with beautifully waved standards and wide-spreading wings, round and open, often measuring 2 inches or more across. A large percentage bear four of these im- mense blossoms to the stem, and the stems are long and strong, making them of exceptional value for cutting.
