J. Habermehl's Sons had quite an elaborate decoration for an after-the- opera dinner on hallowe'en. The cele- brated Clover room at the Bellevue- Stratford Hotel, about sixty feet square and with a high ceiling, was made to represent a barnyard scene. The entire wall space was covered with straw mats, on which garlands of fruit were festooned. The ceiling was canopied with oak leaves, while the floor was completely carpeted with green rafSa mats. A stage showed through an opening at one end and in front of this was a pond in which duclis swam about. Electric lights covered with green and red shades furnished a ?rather weird light. Leading to the room a long entry was bordered with tall cedars on which were suspended all kinds of hallowe'en figures and lan- terns. It was much admired by
