Installed by the Electric Controller & Supply Co. yards per hour of washed and screened sand with a derrick dredgehaving an A frame 40 feet high, which they built for themselves,with a 50-foot boom on a scow 32 by 87 feet, using a Lambert hoistingengine with 12^ by 16-inch double-cylinder, double-drum dredge en-gine, and a 2}^ cubic-yard Hayward orange-peel bucket, working in25 feet of water. The ORourke Construction Company, with a 3^cubic-yard orange-peel bucket on a derrick boat has taken care of2,000 to 2,500 cubic yards of city refuse a day. A valuable aid in hoisting operations is the electric magnet, theproperties of which have been known since 1820, although it is onlyrecently that it has been put to commercial uses.
